The M4 is all new and represents the sixth generation of the iconic sports coupe. The 6-cylinder engine in use in the new M3 and M4 generations employs the M TwinPower Turbo technology. Contrary to the standard custom, this powerplant is actually equipped with two mono-scroll turbochargers, as a difference from the normal TwinPower Turbo engine that use a single, twin-scroll turbocharger.

The new M4's aesthetic prescription follows the same pattern as in the previous generation: a specific bumper and larger air intakes as claimed in the front area, which gets a much more prominent vertical grille than in the Series 3, making it more similar to the Series 4 concept.

The rear has a spoiler, diffuser and four exhausts which are grouped into two groups of two. The wheel arches receive M gills and receive lateral extensions on the carbon fiber sides and roof. The bodywork gets a new exclusive color and an optional M Carbon package to make the carbon fiber even clearer.

The new BMW M3 and M4 use model-specific exhaust system featuring electrically controlled flaps. The special exhaust system features a dual-branch architecture and large cross sections that help minimize back pressure. The system is also fitted with a high-capacity rear silencer and ends with four circular exhaust pipes paired in twin groups, in true BMW M fashion.

The flap-controlled exhaust system helps create a solid bond between the driver and the vehicle, delivering an impressively rich soundtrack and an undistorted engine note that further underlines the high-revving characteristics.

The new BMW M4 also features the BMW Live Cockpit Professional in all its glory, which crystallizes in a fully digital instrument panel and digital touchscreen that sits above the center console. In the central tunnel, iDrive commands and physical buttons are retained to control certain vehicle parameters.

Power comes from a 3.0-litre twin-turbo, straight-six S58 engine with 503 hp and 650 Nm of peak torque that arrives at just 2750rpm on the Competition cars. The engine spins to 7200rpm and promises a very effective combination of the grunt you need to make rapid progress together with the high-rev fireworks. The power is channeled via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with M Drivelogic management unit. The century sprint is accomplished in 3.9 seconds on the way to an electronically limited 250 kmh.
